Credit report and credit access statistics.

Federal data on credit reporting complaints, credit applications, card use, and identity theft. Updated October 13, 2026.

This page collects recent U.S. figures from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Reserve, and Federal Trade Commission. It is a reference for readers, writers, and professionals who need a clear source for the credit questions people are navigating.

These figures describe reported complaints, survey responses, and consumer reports. They do not predict an individual's credit outcome or establish that a complaint reflects a verified error.

Methodology and sources

How to use these figures.

All figures are taken from public federal sources and retain the reporting year stated by the source. The page was last reviewed on October 13, 2026. It will be refreshed when a key source publishes newer annual data.

  1. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Consumer Response Annual Report for 2024. Complaint data includes consumer submissions, and the report describes how the CFPB routed and recorded outcomes.
  2. Federal Reserve, Economic Well-Being of U.S. Households in 2024. Figures come from the Survey of Household Economics and Decisionmaking.
  3. Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Sentinel Network Data Book 2024. The FTC says these are reports submitted by consumers and other contributors, not a consumer survey.
